Position - Programme Coordinator
The Public Health Resource Society (PHRS) is a network of a large number of individuals and organizations committed to building equitable public health systems. The PHRN sees the national Rural Health Mission (NRHM) as a much needed window of opportunity for strengthening community participation in health care and decentralization of health planning and management. The network functions largely through voluntary participation but has a small core of "full timers". To many who would seek a career in public health or in community development, the PHRS offers a variety of positions from which they can seek both their own professional development and an opportunity to make a lasting social contribution.

Currently PHRN is working in the states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand and Orissa with its national head office located at Delhi. For its work in the state of Bihar, PHRS is looking for the following:

1. Programme Coordinators: (2 posts for the state of Bihar – with Patna as Base Station):

The eligibility and roles and responsibilities, their place of work and some details of their working partnership are given below:

•To provide technical support and participate in district level planning for community health worker programmes and health sector reform initiatives in the state. In case of Bihar, providing support to commutisation aspects of NRHM such as ASHA programme and VHSC will be of critical importance.

•To build up resource base in the state for supporting health sector reforms and strengthening public health systems through field research, documentation and media reports .

•To support dissemination of these experiences to a wider audience.

•To assist in capacity building and networking of public health practitioners and various stakeholders for health sector reform and community health workers programme.
•To provide technical and coordination support for ongoing PHRS/ Joint PHRS-IGNOU distance education programmes and other necessary events towards achieving the desired programme goals including editing and preparation of publication of modules /course material

•To take lead in establishing and maintaining in-depth documentation process of PHRN Bihar

•Other supporting activities as deemed necessary

Eligibility: MBBS, MSW or a post graduate qualification in relevant & related streams with minimum two years experience in the health sector.
General conditions for all posts:
•Contract duration will be two years initially.
•Compensation will be based on current emoluments, qualifications and experience as currently prevalent in other Indian NGOs
•Should be able to work under pressure
•Should be conscientious and attentive to detail
•Should be willing to work in team and open to suggestions
• Proficiency in computers
• Ability and willingness towards leaning and self development.
•Programme Coordinators are expected to spend significant amount of time on travel to distant areas.
